It is a skin condition that shows up as different types of bumps. Many people consult with doctors when deciding which treatments to use, especially when considering using any treatments in combination. Acne is in fact, a common problem even among people over 25 years of age! Regardless of how common the problem is however, most teens would prefer to live a life that was acne free, right?
A blackhead occurs when the pore opens to the surface, and the sebum, which contains the skin pigment melanin, oxidizes and turns a brown/black color. Do you remember your adolescence years when every morning the thought of facing the mirror and seeing red teen acne staring back at you used to give you nightmares? Acne is most common in teenagers, but it can happen at an age, even as an infant.
When compared with other commonly used acne treatments, it ranked high, because of its natural anti-bacterial properties. The oily fried foods are just soooo bad for you, I cant understand why people eat at McDonalds like 3 times a week, and then wonder why they are having acne break outs! A sensible regimen may include the daily use of low-concentration (2.5%) benzoyl peroxide preparations, combined with suitable non-comedogenic moisturisers to help avoid overdrying the skin.
Retinol, a form of vitamin A, has similar but milder effects and is used in many over-the-counter moisturizers and other topical products. Dermabrasion is useful for scar removal when the scar is raised above the surrounding skin, but is less effective with sunken scars. Keratinocytes appear in the basal layer from the proliferation of keratinocyte stem cells.
A family history of acne is associated with an earlier occurrence of acne and an increased number of retentional acne lesions. Rofecoxib was shown to improve premenstrual acne vulgaris in a placebo controlled study. Others claim that the reports of permanent poison to the liver are unsubstantiated, and routine testing is considered unnecessary by some dermatologists.
Whiteheads are the direct result of skin pores becoming clogged with sebum, a naturally occurring oil, and dead skin cells. This allows the blood to pool under the affected area, eventually causing the deep rolling scar to level off with the rest of the skin area. Built-up oil of the skin can block the passages of these pores, so standard washing of the face could wash off old oil and help unblock the pores.
Acne is a skin disorder, however it affects much more than just the skin. Acne is a disorder of the sebaceous glands in the skin. Acne at its most basic is a disorder of the pilosebaceous unit, or what is commonly called the hair follicle or pore.
Acne is characterized by the presence of pimples or “zits”, blackheads, and whiteheads. Acne scars the skin but often leaves lasting emotional scars as well. Topical treatment includes Benzoyl peroxide, tretinoin, isotretinoin, azelaic acid, and antibacterials [erythromycin and clindamycin].
